The East River Plaza development will transform the former Washburn Wire Factory into a vibrant commercial center in East Harlem. Conveniently located just off the FDR Drive between 116th and 119th Streets, the project will create thousands of new jobs, generate millions of dollars in new tax revenue, and provide a unique shopping experience for the community and all New Yorkers.


East River Plaza is an investment in the East Harlem community and will be a catalyst for further economic development. The project is expected to create 1,200 to 2,000 new, permanent retail jobs, and roughly 2,000 construction jobs during the two-year construction phase. The developers are committed to working alongside local community groups and East Harlem’s elected officials to promote the hiring of local East Harlem residents, and will invite local- and community-owned firms to submit proposals during the two-year construction phase.
